Beam me up Scotty...

I just read that James Doohan, "Scotty" of Star Trek Fame has just passed away. I'm no trekkie but I did enjoy the show and Scotty was certainly a memorable character. I grew up with the show in syndication, just too young to remember the orriginal airings. I once read that he was a fighter pilot in WWII for Canada and was even shot down!
Always the adventurer it seems.
Shows like Star Trek were dying out before Sci Fi came along and gave us Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis (which by the way features a Scottish Character...) Mister Doohan, thanks for a memorable character and what appears to have been by all accounts a life well lived.
